A note from Flore

Welcome, make yourself at home

Hi, I’m Flore

I am a medical doctoral candidate, and I truly believe we can talk about mental health simply, without taboo and with scientific rigour.

In our communities, psychological suffering is still too often lived in silence. SantéMentaleAfro was born from the wish to change that: to inform in clear words, to take our realities into account, and to offer a space where everyone can be heard.

Whether you are here to learn, for a loved one or for yourself: you are in the right place.

Take care of yourself,

Flore

About

One approach, four commitments

SantéMentaleAfro is an initiative dedicated to promoting mental health and making scientific knowledge accessible in African contexts.

  1. Science

    A scientific approach

Content is grounded in current scientific knowledge, diagnostic classifications and the guidelines of health organisations.

  2. Africa

    An African perspective

Mental health is never lived apart from its social, family, cultural and economic context.

  3. Clarity

    Accessible information

Turning complex medical knowledge into information that is clear and useful.

  4. Humanity

    A human approach

To support people: inform, destigmatise and guide them towards the right help when needed.

I arrived exhausted, convinced I was “too sensitive”. Flore explained what was happening in my mind and body in simple words. For the first time, I felt understood, not judged.
